1908 Tennesee Supreme Court Decision Shaped Blue Springs Way Area

The decision of Emert vs Blair was dated December 12, 1908. W. B. Emert prevailed. It appears this established his control of the mountain farms which surround Blue Springs Way. This area was part of the disputed estate of John B. Emert who died in 1884.

By 1910 W.B. Emert sold several tracts of the land. Deeds were recorded to Harvey Cameron, Polly Cotter, W.J. Lawson and others. He also deeded land to the Wearwood Academy (now Wearwood Elementary School). Reading this case offers an interesting peek into the History of Sevier County and Wears Valley.
